A requirement to deploy a VxRail cluster is to create a VxRail management user and password on your vCenter Server. The password for this user does expire in VxRail manager. The fix for this is quick and painless but VxRail Manager informs you when the password has expired and mutes health monitoring services until you update the password.
Recently, I was upgrading one of my VxRail cluster and ran into the most unusual error.
Failed to upload bundle: VXRAIL_COMPOSITE-4.7.410-26262335_for_.5.x.zip: Failure occurred in executing the checker: Pre-checking the version compatibility among components. Unable to connect to VC: Client received SOAP Fault from server: Password of the user logging on is expired. :: Password of the user logging on is expired. :: {Name: XXXXXX, Domain: XXXXX} Please see the server log to find more detail regarding exact cause of the failure. Please refer to KB 488890 article. Please refer to KB 488889 article.

If you read through the KB articles there are plenty of recommendations but I find reading the error sometimes helps. Even though VxRail Manager didn’t tell me the created user expired the upgrade script did.
Steps I took to fix:
Go into vCenter > Administration > Single Sign On > Users and Groups > Domain: your domain
Find your VxRail Management User and click the 3 dots next to it to edit
Enter the password then click save
Go back to VxRail Manager GUI.
Go to update passwords and enter the password supplied in the vCenter.
You should be good to upload your composite bundle again.
Summary:
This was an annoying error to run into and odd that VxRail Manager didn’t warn me prior to the upgrade that the password had expired. However, the fix was rather quick and painless. Once again I cannot stress that if you aren’t comfortable then contact DellEMC support to assist. As always, I hope y’all found this article useful.
